Weekly Business Lesson 3: Focus on What Moves the Needle
This week I had to ask myself a hard question:
Am I doing work that’s actually growing the business, or just staying busy to feel productive?
Running Duke Detailing, there’s always something to do—clean gear, organize the schedule, tweak the logo, update social media… and while those things matter, they don’t all move the needle.
What actually grows the business?
-Booking new clients
-Creating real value for the people I serve
-Following up with leads
-Building strong relationships
-Getting better at the craft
-Learning how to market more effectively
Everything else is noise if I’m not doing those things first.
I realized: being busy is easy. Anyone can fill their calendar. But being intentional is where the real progress happens.
This week I started blocking time specifically for needle-moving tasks. The difference in clarity and momentum? Huge.
So here’s the reminder—especially if you’re building something solo: 📌 Don’t confuse motion with progress. 📌 Prioritize the uncomfortable stuff that actually grows your business. 📌 Let go of perfect. Focus on impact.
